Opportunity Is Here: Chamber Hosts Annual General Meeting Featuring High Growth Sector Panel

Sydney, NS – The Cape Breton Regional Chamber of Commerce will host its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on April 30, 2021 at the Membertou Trade and Convention Centre. The AGM will feature a ‘fireside’ conversation focused on three key sectors that are creating economic opportunities throughout the island. Tickets can be purchased online and are $50 plus tax for members and $70 plus tax for non-members; a catered lunch will be served.

The Chamber’s AGM will welcome incoming board members and speak to the Chamber’s initiatives and advocacy efforts for the reported 2020 year. Following the AGM formalities, the Chamber is excited to host a fireside conversation: Opportunity Is Here, where you will hear from leaders in the real estate, construction and biotech sectors.

These industries are currently thriving, attracting investments, and creating new opportunities here on Cape Breton Island. This is an excellent chance to learn about these sectors and how they are advancing economic growth.

Speakers include:

  • Roger Boutilier – Chief Executive Officer at Nova Scotia Association of REALTORS®
  • Trent Soholt – Executive Director at Nova Scotia Construction Sector Council
  • Bob Pelley – Regional Manager, Cape Breton and Northern Nova Scotia at Innovacorp
  • Dr. Beth Mason – Chief Executive Officer of The Verschuren Centre

“It is a time of enormous opportunity here in the CBRM and we are seeing incredible growth in all of these sectors. In speaking with our members of the business community, it is clear that the bigger story is not well-known, so we felt it would be an exciting conversation to host! We are really looking forward to hearing from each of our speakers where they will have the chance to unpack what is happening here in our community, why this time is shaping our future and what is to come for our island,” says Kathleen Yurchesyn, CEO of the Cape Breton Regional Chamber of Commerce.

This AGM event will be hosted by the Chamber and supported through sponsorship from Innovacorp and the Nova Scotia Association of REALTORS®.
