Megan Penney Appointed as CEO of the Cape Breton Regional Chamber of Commerce

The Cape Breton Regional Chamber of Commerce’s Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Megan Penney as the new Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately.

“We are thrilled to welcome Megan as our new CEO,” says Craig Boudreau, Board Chair. “This is an exciting time to be involved with the Chamber and we are confident that Megan has the skill set necessary to support the business community during this time of exponential growth.” Craig adds, “This is a pivotal time for our community, and Megan’s leadership will be instrumental in driving forward our mission to support and advocate for local businesses.”

A three-time graduate of Cape Breton University, Megan holds a Master of Business Administration in Community Economic Development as well as Bachelor of Business Administration and Bachelor of Arts Community Studies degrees. During her studies at Cape Breton University, she was one of nine Atlantic Canadian students to be awarded the prestigious Frank H. Sobey Award for Excellence in Business Studies in 2022.

Megan has been an integral part of the Chamber, having served as the Member Relations Coordinator for the past year. In this role, she has been dedicated to enhancing member engagement and fostering strong relationships within the business community. Her passion for community development and her commitment to supporting local businesses make her an excellent fit for the CEO position.

“I am excited to step into the CEO role and am enthusiastic about the future of the Chamber,” says Megan. “Our community is at a pivotal time and I am eager to create opportunities for engagement and growth for both established and emerging businesses.” She adds, “I look forward to working closely with the Board and our members to continue advancing the interests of our business community. By working together, we can ensure that our Chamber remains a vital resource for all businesses in the CBRM.”
