Building Strong Communities | Lindsay Construction
Born and raised in Antigonish, Robert Cameron has a strong connection to Cape Breton through his mother, who is originally from Reserve Mines. Having spent most of his summers as a child in Cape Breton in Reserve Mines and Glace Bay, many would hopefully agree Robert is an honorary Cape Bretoner.
Robert’s professional journey began after studying at both St. Francis Xavier University and McGill University, which led him to a 20-year career in the healthcare industry. Robert left his role at a national healthcare company and joined Lindsay Construction in June of 2023 as the Director of Business Development for Atlantic Canada, a move inspired by the thriving construction industry and the promise he saw in the sector.
A large part of what drew Robert to Lindsay Construction was their focus on community and charitable efforts. While upholding their commitment to supporting the communities in which they work, Lindsay Construction designs and builds, and manages the construction planning for many important projects within Atlantic Canada.
As the largest general contracting company in Atlantic Canada, Lindsay Construction also knows the importance of prioritizing quality and hiring great people to ensure a great experience for their clients and customers. Lindsay Construction has a notable presence in Cape Breton, with a beautiful office in Sydney and a fantastic construction team, led by Regional Director, Howie Dorion.
In addition to their office in Sydney, Lindsay Construction’s head office is located in Dartmouth. Regional branches for the company are also located in Trenton, Nova Scotia, Moncton and Saint John, New Brunswick, and Mount Pearl, Newfoundland. The company also has strong relationships with Membertou, Eskasoni and other Indigenous communities in the province, such as Millbrook First Nation. They have worked on several buildings in these communities and are looking forward to continuing to do so.
One aspect of Lindsay Construction that might surprise many is their expertise in building multi-unit residential buildings. Strategically, Lindsay Construction is increasing its focus on Cape Breton and in particular, Sydney to aid some of the struggles being faced in the community with the current housing crisis.
As Robert settles into his role, he is excited about having a presence in Cape Breton, reconnecting with his Cape Breton roots, and contributing to the development of the community that holds a special place in his heart. Robert says his first trip back to the Island with his new role was very nostalgic and brought back a lot of great memories.
What sets Lindsay Construction apart is not just their quality buildings and construction, but the genuine care they have for the communities they serve. Lindsay Construction does not cut corners when it comes to their work or philanthropic efforts and it shows. Aligning perfectly with Robert’s values he feels this new role will be a fulfilling endeavor for him.
